National French Fries Day | Home Frite grows from Smorgasburg to Bed-Stuy staple

Home Frite started out as a Smorgasburg spot that quickly grew into a Bed-Stuy staple.

With a double-fried potato, a special house-made salt blend and lots of different sauce options, Home Frite wanted to bring the European fry to the neighborhood.

“I spent some time studying abroad in the Netherlands and I ate french fries pretty much any day that I could. I absolutely loved them,” said Crystal Lingle, Co-owner of Home Frite. “They serve them in a cone there and cover them with mayonnaise or curry sauce and fresh onions. We wanted to share that with people in Brooklyn.”

Though fries are still the bread and butter of Home Frite, their expansion allowed the menu to grow, so you can have a burger or chicken sandwich (for example) to go along with your fries.

In honor of National French Fries Day, Home Frite is giving out free fries with any take-out purchase!

Home Frite is located at 1047 Bedford Ave. in Brooklyn, but they can also be found at The Shed in Hudson Yards on Wednesdays-Thursdays and all weekend long at Smorgaburg’s three locations.
