Special victims detectives are on the hunt for the sexual predator behind a violent Midtown rape attempt early on Sunday morning.
The NYPD released images late on Monday night of the perpetrator sought for the horrific incident that unfolded at around 3:30 a.m. on Aug. 10 near the corner of West 47th Street and 8th Avenue.
Police reported that the suspect stalked and then grabbed from behind a 21-year-old woman as she walked on the sidewalk.
Wrapping his arm around her neck, law enforcement sources reported, the sicko choked her until she lost consciousness. After a few seconds, she regained consciousness to discover the attacker with his hands on her vagina.
After noticing that she had regained consciousness, police reported, the creep took off running westbound on West 47th Street towards 9th Avenue.
The incident was reported to the Midtown North Precinct; the victim told responding officers that she suffered neck pain. EMS brought her to NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan, where she was listed in stable condition.
No arrests have been made as of Tuesday morning. Police described the attacker as a man who was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, black shorts, and white sneakers.
