Two Battery Park City moms are set to launch their new nursery decor business in mid September. Margarita Picone and Melanie Zrihen said that when they were pregnant there were few stores that could help them with all their baby bedding and furniture needs. So they decided to create one themselves, and Bella Zander Co. was born.
Run out of the two women’s homes in the neighborhood’s north section, Bella Zander Co. will offer custom bedding, handcrafted furniture, and other decor items at price points “from moderate to exuberant,” prices Picone said. She and Zrihen are open for appointments and will also visit expectant mothers on bed rest.
The name Bella Zander derives from the names of Picone’s 21-month-old twins, Lauren Isabella and Alexander. The twins have become good friends with Zrihen’s 18-month-old daughter, Julia.
Bella Zander’s founders will hold a launch party on Sept. 17, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Tribeca Park Health Club at 400 Chambers St. 917-309-4475.
